Friday Chat w/ Vlad
Hey, it’s Vlad. Today I am going to talk about some of the work we do to make life better for you humans, which in turn makes life better for us canids. One of these activities is having our pictures taken with people. Now when I say “our pictures” I am not specifically talking about MY picture. I help people in much more complex ways. This role is perfectly suited for Mr. everything is about me..yep, you guessed it, Viktor.
You really can’t blame people for wanting to have their pictures taken with us as we are quite stunning. We have appeared in pictures documenting occasions such weddings, engagements and graduations. One of the most important things about these photo shoots is management makes sure we always enjoy participating. This rules out any of our fur farm rescue animals. While they might be able to do it they certainly would not enjoy it. Viktor just loves doing these. Not only does he get all the treats he can eat but the best way to get him to hold a pose is to scratch his back, which he lives for. When he sees people with long fingernails he gets especially excited.
Lucan also loves participating in these shoots. With him it’s a whole different experience. This boy is a bit high energy and he really wants to get in everyone’s grill. He doesn’t seem to realize that his head is as hard as an anvil and most people value their teeth. I tell him to take it down a notch but my pleading goes in one ear and out the other.
The best photo shoots are ones that involve kids. We all feel it is especially important for young people to appreciate all animals, as they are tomorrow’s leaders. Our motto at the center is through interactions comes understanding..through understanding comes appreciation and through appreciation comes conservation. These interactions are hopefully a first step in a life devoted to treating all animals with respect and dignity. We want to create an army of canid crusaders. Got to go now. Yuri seems to have gotten his foot stuck in a Kong. Some of the others are suggesting amputation but I am sure a little butter will take care of it. I really am quite invaluable around here.
